Summer Hunting Season Approaches

Every hunter knows the feeling of gearing up with a cold weather clothing system for a long winter hunting trip. Rarely is there a trip made in the fall or winter hunting seasons that doesn’t feature weather protection and MultiCam camouflage. Frankly, these products are the only way to go when ensuring a particularly good hunting trip. But what about the summer season? Cold weather systems hardly seem necessary because the general focus of hunting is in the colder months. So what kind of game can you expect to find during those steamy months that are right around the corner?

Fish – Now, a trip to the lake or local pond may not be technical hunting, but a major element of the summer season is the ability to simply hop in a boat and just start fishing. No cutting of a hole and no layer upon layer of clothing hindering your movement. So what if it doesn’t involve a rifle – you can still bring home dinner!

Bears – If you live in an area that allows bear hunting, you should definitely be incredibly careful about how you approach this type of big game. Bears are dangerous and irritable especially after a long winter season of hibernation. Make sure you find out what the rules of these areas are and get whatever tips you can from game wardens and park rangers.

Groundhogs – Surprisingly enough, one of the most popular hunting targets in the summer is the  groundhog. They are not only very present, but cause trouble with their burrowing. By hunting groundhog, you can practice your close range or long range hunting skills looking for these pesky critters.

Deer – As always, deer are a major target during any season, but be warned. Many states and counties regulate the types of deer that you hunt during the summer. Look into your local regulations for more information.
